The deceased's occupation

If you are dealing with the probate process, you will need to know the deceased’s occupation.

The deceased’s occupation is required on the Return of estate information (IHT205) form.

It is stated on the death certificate. Whatever is written here will suffice for the IHT205.

If you are unsure, remember to include the deceased’s former occupation, if retired at the date of death. For example, “retired teacher”. If the deceased never had a career, write “none”.
