Solicitor
All solicitors are members of The Law Society and are regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. All have a practising certificate, often on display at the solicitor's office.
All solicitors are lawyers, but not all lawyers are solicitors. Other types of lawyer in England and Wales include barristers, legal executives and paralegals.
In contrast to barristers, solicitors tend not to appear in court.
