Ordinary power of attorney
Also known as a general power of attorney, this is a simple but powerful document by which a person may appoint an attorney to deal with that person's affairs. Unlike a lasting power of attorney, the arrangement will be ineffective if that person loses mental capacity.
An ordinary power of attorney does not have to be registered and it can be revoked at any time.
