Grant of letters of administration

A document proving that personal representatives have the authority to deal with an estate. Required by administrators if no executors have been appointed in a will.

If there is a will, but the will either does not appoint executors or the appointed executors have died or shall not act for some other reason, this type of grant is called a "grant of letters of administration with will annexed".
