This privacy policy applies to registered or unregistered users of our website www.thelawwizard.com including our blog www.blog.thelawwizard.com (together referred to as “our Website”) and to users who have registered to use The Probate Wizard (“The Probate Wizard”). The information we collect and how we use it

We do not collect information which can identify you personally (such as your name, e-mail address and telephone number) unless you choose to provide it.

If we hold information that identifies you personally, we may use this information for administrative purposes, operating the Website and The Probate Wizard, business development and (subject to our marketing policy, below) marketing.

We may collate statistics to help us develop and improve our business and our systems.

We may provide these statistics to third parties or publish them on our Website. These statistics will not include information by which you can be personally identified.

Visiting our Website

When you visit our Website, we automatically collect certain information such as your browser type, your IP address, your operating system, your approximate location and the length of your visit. This information does not identify you personally. We use this information to analyse usage which allows us to improve the design and content of our Website.

Leaving comments / feedback / testimonials and contacting us

If you leave a comment/feedback on a webpage, if you provide us with a testimonial, or if you contact us using a contact form or by e-mail, we collect information such as your IP address. This information does not identify you personally, but you may choose to leave other information (such as your name or e-mail address) which does. Sometimes you must provide information which identifies you personally, for example if you send an e-mail to us we will see your e-mail address. We may use this information to analyse usage, which allows us to improve the design and content of our Website, and to respond to you. Once a comment, an item of feedback or a testimonial is submitted, it is generally permanent, though please contact us if you no longer wish for the item to appear on our Website.

Mailing list

We will only add your e-mail address to our mailing list if specifically requested or authorised by you. If you have received an e-mail newsletter from us, it will contain instructions on how to unsubscribe.

Using The Probate Wizard

When you register to use The Probate Wizard, or at some stage during your use of The Probate Wizard, we need to know:

  1. your e-mail address, full name, postal address, occupation, telephone number and date of birth;
  2. the e-mail address, full names postal addresses, occupations, telephone numbers and dates of birth of the other executors or administrators (if any) and the deceased’s surviving spouse or civil partner (if any); and
  3. various details about the deceased person.

These details are required in order for The Probate Wizard compile the forms required to apply for a grant of representation / grant of probate or to compile probate reports. For more information, see our terms and conditions, available at www.thelawwizard.com/about/terms.

Marketing information

We will never send marketing information to you unless you have specifically requested it, for example if you have signed up to our e-mail newsletter.

Even if you have asked us to contact you we will never bombard you with rubbish.

The telephone numbers and addresses you provide during your use of the The Probate Wizard will never be used by us for marketing purposes.

Sharing information with third parties

With the exception of certain third party services (see below), data provided by you is collected solely by us. We never share, rent or sell any personally identifiable information with third parties.

It is possible, though unlikely, that we might be forced to disclose personally identifiable information in response to legal process or when we believe in good faith that the law requires it, for example in response to a court order, subpoena or a request by a law enforcement agency. Third party services

For comments on pages on our Website and in The Probate Wizard we use a third party service called Disqus, a US-based company. Your IP address and any other information you choose to provide will be stored by Disqus and will be subject to Disqus’s own policies.

For feedback and suggestions on our Website and in The Probate Wizard we use a third party service called UserVoice, a US-based company. Your IP address and any other information you choose to provide will be stored by UserVoice and will be subject to UserVoice’s own policies.

To compile statistics about our Website we may use third party systems such as Google Analytics, StatCounter and similar. Your IP address, geographical location and other information will be stored by Google and/or StatCounter, both US-based companies. The information is subject to these companies’ own policies.

Payment transactions will be handled by a third party. We will only share with this party the minimum amount of information necessary. You can review the third party’s policies when you are asked to pay.

Some information you provide will be transferred and/or available internationally, for example data transferred using the above third party services. Data transferred internationally may be subject to other countries’ data protection laws. Comments left on our Website are available to view internationally, and may be subject to misuse over which we have no control.

Our Website contains links to third party sites over which we have no control. The information practices of these sites may be different than ours. If you visit external websites you should consult the other sites' privacy notices.

Security

We make every reasonable effort to ensure the data you provide is secure.

For example, when you are using The Probate Wizard, SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption ensures that the information you provide is not visible to anybody else while transferring between your computer and our servers. A small padlock symbol in your web browser indicates that SSL is in use.

However, the web is – by its nature – not 100% secure. As a result, we cannot guarantee the privacy of personal information you transmit over the web, including by e-mail.

Please keep your password confidential. Please log out of The Probate Wizard when not in use in order to minimise the risk of unauthorised access.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files designed to make your Internet experience more efficient. They do not contain personal information. When you visit our Website or use The Probate Wizard, one or more cookies may be created on your computer’s hard disk so that our Website can remember who you are and can improve your experience.

The Law Wizard Limited has registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office in accordance with our obligations under the Data Protection Act.

The data controller is The Law Wizard Limited. Our data protection registration number is Z2558347.

Note that the Data Protection Act only covers data relating to living persons.

If at any time you decide that we should no longer hold any of your personal data, or if you wish to change the use to which any such data can be put, please contact us. In some circumstances we may have to charge a small fee and ask you for identification.

We may revise this policy or any part of it from time to time. Please review the policy periodically for changes.

You can amend your address and certain other details via your dashboard, after logging in. If you believe any other information about you is incorrect, please contact us.
